Salesian Music Ministry Looks Forward
June 21, 2022, Don Bosco Provincial House – Talamban – The executive officers of the Salesian Music Ministry (SMM), Fr. Randy Figuracion, SDB, director, and Mr. Niño James Bañares, project coordinator, met with the FIS Provincial, Fr. Fidel Ma. Orendain, SDB to present SMM’s plans and projects. The SMM was established seven years ago with a two-fold mission: to promote Salesian music and to assist the local houses in their music ministries.
SMM celebrated its 7th anniversary last May 24. Composed of volunteers and lovers of music, the ministry is seeking to strengthen its mission and identity in the coming years. ”I envision a grand choir for the province where members come from the different houses,” Mr. Banares shared.
The ministry currently has two arms: the Pagdayeg Music Ministry as its choir and Praistrings a strings ensemble. It is now looking forward for new avenues for promoting and animating Salesian culture in the province.
St. John Bosco said, ”a house without music is like a body without a soul.” Music remains an essential part of Salesian and Bosconian life. The FIS Province looks forward to its more musical life.
