No Fear

Jesus said to the Twelve:”Fear no one.” Mt 10:26-33

12th Ordinary Sunday

Of all mottos among the different schools of Don Bosco, DBTC Cebu has a unique one: “Ardua Non Timeo” which is translated as ‘Fear no hardship’. Why is its motto such? It must because of all Don Bosco schools, DBTC is the only one that started as a center for street kids and not as a school. As boys in difficult situations they must be trained to survive the hardships. They must be taught not to be afraid.

In the first reading Jeremiah heard whispering “Terrors on every side”. Yet he was never afraid for as he said “the Lord has always rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked”. Jer 20:10-13

Thus in the gospel Jesus told His apostles no less than three times not to fear. Fear not for nothing concealed will never be revealed. Do not be afraid because no one can kill the soul. Do not be afraid for God cares for you more than sparrows.

St. Paul gives the one reason why they should fear no one. The reason is God’s grace is more powerful than any of man’s transgression. Rom 5:12-15
