Learning How to Learn

The youth of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes had their TGIF formation on study habits last April 26, 2024 with the theme “Unlock your potential: study smart, not hard!” TGIF or Thanks God Its Friday is a monthly series of formation for young people from the Salesian Youth Movement, Academic Sponsorship Youth recipients, and BEC Youth members. The talk was given by Mr. Michael Luiji Clitar, a licensed professional teacher at the Sacred Heart School – Hijas de Jesus Senior High School. He also holds a degree in philosophy and has studied theology. He is currently completing his studies in civil law.
Mr. Clitar shared with youth the different methods and techniques of studying. He emphasized the need for learners to develop skills in time management and studying before classes. He closed his talk with the idea of “studying for life and not for grades.” After the talk, the youth leaders then led the attendees to a game of Paint Me A Picture where groups were asked to simulate activities and situations in the classroom and demonstrate how study habits are applied there. The TGIF ended with a short good night talk and blessing by the Youth Director.
