The DBTC Pastoral Animation Office, in coordination with the SASO for the Salesian Youth Leaders of the different SYM clubs, organized an overnight leadership camp entitled “SYM CLUB LEADER’S CAMP” last September 15-16, 2023, at DBTC. The participants were the president and vice president, and representatives from all existing sodalities in DBTC. Five groups were formed namely: Orange Team as “Horizon,” the Purple Team as “Mahusay and Noble-Hearted (MANG),” the Yellow Team as “BKS,” the Green Team as “We Do Fun,” and the Pink Team as “KAAZI.”
Talks and activities at the camp were centered on Don Bosco’s life and works, the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), the Salesian Youth Spirituality (SYS), emphasizing the “Daily of Cors,” the Salesian Youth Leader (SYL), and the Salesian Way of Planning. The main activity was the Amazing Race which consisted of five stations. This was an animated and interactive way to effectively teach the campers leadership, communication, and teamwork skills so they could one day lead the members of their respective sodalities.
The BOSCO election, in which the BOSCO Core and Support Councils for SY 2023–2024 were constituted, was also held in the camp after the amazing race. The campers were acknowledged with various awards, depending on their performance during the camp. The camp ended with performances of their lively chants, bringing the spirit of Don Bosco with them as they returned home.
