Youth-Serving-Youth, Balamban Version

Our trainees from Don Bosco Balamban can’t afford to go to college but they can afford to give free haircut to poorer kids. This is what Batch 48 did last July 10, 16 and 17 in Cordova, Asturias and Lamesa, Balamban respectively during an outreach program conducted by various groups of civic-minded organizations.

During his report to the BOT (Board of Trustees) meeting last July 20, Training Director, Fr Brian Butanas, SDB also mentioned that last year on August 14, 2021 Batch 47 joined the blood-letting activity organized by Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) at the height of the Delta variant of Covid-19. And so last June 23 Don Bosco received from VSMMC a special award, the “Luis Flores Award 2021” for having contributed 94 blood units from Batches 45, 46 and 47 in view of saving lives.

These certainly affirm what Pope St. John Paul II once said “No one is so poor he has nothing to give.” And this precisely is Don Bosco’s vision for the recipients of our mission: YOUTH-serving-YOUTH.

Fr Butanas also reported that last year in 2021 despite the on-going pandemic, 98 trainees (enrolled in two batches) graduated from our program and got the TESDA certification. And most of them are now employed in various companies.

Aside from Balamban the Salesians of the Philippine South Province (FIS) are currently running six other TVET centers spread out in Visayas and Mindanao, plus another one in Lahore, Pakistan. GiGsss!
