Be Still and Know That I am God

by Honesto Geronimo

The angel said to Zechariah,
“I am Gabriel, who stand before God.
I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news.
But now you will be speechless and unable to talk
until the day these things take place,
because you did not believe my words,
which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”

luke 1:5-25

4th Misa de Gallo

The priest Zechariah, and his wife, Elizabeth prayed a long time for a child. They both had grown old without an offspring, a curse for the Jews.  But luck soon struck for Zechariah for he was picked to offer incense in the temple. With only one temple, few feasts and thousands of priests this was really a blessing.

Inside the temple the angel Gabriel broke him the good news that he would finally have a son who would prepare the way for the promised Messiah. And yet Zechariah did not believed for which he was made dumb unable to speak.

God made him dumb for a purpose, namely so that in silence for nine months he could contemplate and understand the plan God has for his son as well as for him.

In life many times in life when things go way beyond our comprehension, instead of ranting we have to be still in front of God and realize He is God. As God He knows what He is about and things will never go out of His huge hand.
