Post-Sunday Reflection
Kindness never goes unrewarded. God is never outdone in generosity.
Below is a painting displayed inside the octagonal church built on top of the ruins of St Peter’s house by the Sea of Galilee. It features Jesus healing Simon Peter’s mother-in-law who after being touched by Jesus gets up to serve him, her Lord & healer.
Last Sunday we heard Jesus telling us that if we love our father or mother more than him we are not worthy of him. He isn’t saying we should not love our parents at all. He just wants us to know it is he who loves us through our parents. And so when the right time comes when we are called to leave behind our loved ones to follow the Lord more closely for a much greater service in the Church we need to make that difficult choice for Him.
Simon Peter did just that. He left his family, loved ones & career in response to the Lord calling him to become a fisher of men. Because of what he did he was greatly blessed. His courageous act of self-giving to Jesus did not go unrewarded. His mother-in-law was restored to health. GiGsss!
