Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu, Inc. celebrated the 203rd birthday of Saint John Bosco, the father and teacher of youth on August 16, 2018. The day began with a paraliturgy led by Fr. Vince Michael Sabal, SDB, BED Pastoral Animator. An excerpt from the first chapter of the saint’s autobiography was read during the reflection. He then challenged the Bosconians and Salesian educators to think about a gift that they can offer for Don Bosco on the occasion of his birthday.
The Pastoral Animation Office put up an altarina with the image of Don Bosco and a box that is wrapped where everyone can write their greetings, prayers, and offer gifts for the birthday celebrant. Music was played during break times adding to the festive mood of the day. A salu-salo was also made as part of the celebration of the TVED students and staff. The kissing of the relic of the saint was done by the College Department. In the evening, the Boarding Home had a special rosary, the kissing of the relic and the Goodnight Talk by Fr. Vernil “Dodoy” Lopez, SDB. The day ended with an atmosphere of gratitude for the life and gift of Saint John Bosco to the Church and to the world.
