DBFC Lawaan, Cebu, December 7, 2019 – This evening before the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the novices and aspirants staged a play entitled “Huling Himala” in order to prepare the community for the feast. The story revolves around an unlikely character in Pepino, a physically challenged boy who became the Blessed Mother’s instrument of healing for all.
The play is a showcase of talents from among candidates to the Salesian life, who wholly took care of the production. Using pop music adjusted to the story, the aspirants were able to portray in the musical the extraordinary graces that the immaculate Conception wins for her children and the beauty of Marian devotion.
In his good night talk, Fr. Mel Racelis, SDB, highlighted the Salesian tradition of an Academia, a religious entertainment done to prepare everyone for the feast. He pointed out the significance of December 8 not only as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception but also the anniversary of the traditional start of St. John Bosco’s ministry with young people in his meeting with Bartholomew Garelli at a sacristy. He challenged the community to develop devotion to our Blessed Mother as she is instrumental in the foundation of all Salesian works, a true miracle maker.
