Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu, July 26, 2022 – The title may bring back memories of fully loaded plates of our staple food but RICE for the youth center here means Responsibility, Initiative, Critical Thinking and Empathy. These are the four qualities that animators inculcated among campers to develop in them leadership qualities.
17 youth members came for a three-days and two-nights camp in the school campus last June 18 to 20, 2022. The camp is organized into a series of modules on the four qualities given by youth animators. Young people listened to both youth center leaders and invited SYM-FIS Core group members.
The camp featured games and activities that expound on the talks. The first and second days enabled the campers to appreciate leadership and service in the Salesian Youth Movement. The third day marked as the culmination of the talks through an Amazing Race game. The camp capped off with the celebration of the Holy Mass where the youth director, Fr. Keith J. Amodia, SDB, challenged the campers and facilitators to a deeper life in Jesus through their SYM experience. Finally, after an awarding of prizes and certificates, the campers enjoyed a hearty meal and fellowship together.
