Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, October 14, 2023 – The youth center organized its common formation on the faith for all youth in its sectors of the Salesian Youth Movement, the youth recipients of parish scholarships, and the youth from the different chapels in the parish. The activity was led by the education committee of the Parish Youth Coordinating Council and was focused on the basic prayers, with the theme “Ora pro nobis.”
The pandemic brought challenges to the faith, one of which is the lack of proficiency in basic prayers among youth. Through the formative activity – turned game – young people were asked to memorize both Cebuano and English versions of common prayers, and were asked to recite these by youth groups by random pick. What could have been a boring memorization turned fun for those involved.
The night ended with a good night talk from the parish priest, Fr. Jhun Paradiang, SDB, who encouraged young people to give themselves to youth activities. He pointed out the richness of the Salesian Youth Ministry where youth receive integral formation not only in the faith, but also in worship, in building relationships, and in giving back to the community. “Activities like these turn into beautiful memories,” he said, “and you will reminisce them 10 or 20 years from now.”
