Don Bosco Philippines South Province joined the Don Bosco TECH International TVET Conference held at Don Bosco Technical Institute-Makati from September 6-7, 2024. The conference gathered global representatives from Don Bosco TECH, technical-vocational education and training (TVET) practitioners, and industry leaders to explore the theme: “Skills Development in a Transformative World: Embracing Resilience, Innovation, and Inclusivity.” Among the participants was the Don Bosco Philippines South Province (FIS), with a delegation of 39 members consisting of training directors, instructors, and staff.

Central to the conference were three keynote speeches, each addressing crucial aspects of TVET’s future. The first focused on Skills Development, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches to vocational training to meet the challenges posed by rapid technological advancements. The second keynote, Green Transition and Sustainability, tackled the integration of climate-conscious practices in education and industry, reflecting a commitment to fostering environmentally resilient vocations. Lastly, TVET Digital Transformation delved into the role of digital technologies in revolutionizing education, emphasizing the importance of equipping students with cutting-edge skills in an increasingly digital world.

In addition to the keynote speeches, the conference featured cross-sectoral panel discussions, which followed the themes of Resilience, Innovation, and Inclusivity. These discussions allowed participants to explore strategies for adapting to new challenges while ensuring that TVET remains accessible to all, especially those from marginalized communities.

The presence of the FIS delegates demonstrated the province’s dedication to ongoing professional development and capacity building. Throughout the conference, the FIS team took the opportunity to network and connect with local and international partners, exchanging knowledge, ideas, and best practices that would further enhance their local training programs ensuring that the FIS TVET institutions remain at the forefront of skills development in the transformative world.
