Quetta (September 21, 2024): Don Bosco-Quetta organized a one-day ‘YOUTH FELLOWSHIP’ (A Time to Pray, to Play & to Share), spearheaded by Fr. Samuel Adnan Ghouri, SDB, the rector. Ninety-six youth from all the parishes of the Apostolic Vicariate of Quetta participated in the annual activity of the commission, held at Caritas Hall, Bishop House, Zargoon Road, Quetta. The diocesan theme, “Youth Serving Youth,” was the central focus of the youthful gathering of selected young participants. Fr. Tahir Sattar led the opening prayer, while Mr. Arslan Rohail read the Word of God for everyone.
The diocesan youth animators facilitated the registration, and youth director Fr. Samuel, also the Salesian Youth Ministry delegate, welcomed the participants and the special speaker, His Excellency Bishop Khalid Rehmat, OFM Cap. Bishop Khalid elaborated on the theme, ‘The Role of Young People in the Synodal Church,’ challenging young people to heed the Holy Father’s call to be active digital missionaries to their fellow youth. He also reminded them that youth have immense responsibility in today’s Church.
After lunch, Bro. Francis Nhat, SDB, presented St. John Bosco’s ‘Dream at Nine,’ which the Salesians of Don Bosco celebrate as part of the bicentenary of their founder’s dream. This dream is of pivotal importance in the mission of the Congregation. Miss Maliha Tariq presented a report on the ‘Salesian Synod of Youth,’ in which she participated last August in Torino, Italy. A compilation book of the dreams of 196 young people from 134 countries was introduced.
Fr. Sami conducted a survey through guided questions, asking the participants to give their valuable observations and opinions on Christian family, education, youth and addiction, the Church, and unemployment among the young in their respective areas and parishes.
The ‘YOUTH FELLOWSHIP’ ended with an evening prayer led by Sr. Cynthia, CSJ, followed by a group photo to commemorate the day.
