The Salesian Family Encounter is a gathering of the Salesian Family from all Salesian clusters namely Cebu, Negros and Mindanao. Last May 18, the Mindanao cluster gathered in Don Bosco Mati for a one-day event that was full of socializations, learnings and cultural presentations of the different Don Bosco settings in a vivid celebration of community spirit.
The day kicked off with an opening program featuring a dance animation of the Salesian Cooperators and ADMA of Mati, proudly welcoming the participants. The animation was followed by a welcome speech by Fr. Rosmon Valenciano, SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Mati.
Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, spiritual director of the FIS Salesian Family introduced the keynote speaker, Fr. Nestor Impelido, SDB. The celebration of the Holy Mass followed and was presided by, Fr. Rosmon. Encounter24 was a huge success because of the enthusiastic participation of the youth and ADMA from Calinan, the ADMA and past pupils from Mati, and a special participation of the past pupils from Cebu. Everyone presented performances of dance and song which heightened the spirit of the gathering.
The event concluded with a final song in honor of Saint John Bosco, lead by the Salesians and joined by everyone. It was a day filled with fun and laughter that reminded everyone of the family spirit that holds them to one another.
