FIN & FIS Unified—A First: Salesian Educators’ Hub Launched

Don Bosco Technical Institute, Victorias City – On August 7, 2021, history has been made when Don Bosco schools from all over the Philippines virtually gathered for the first Salesian Educator’s Formation, “Coming Together as One.”

Almost 400 participating Salesians and lay educators of 12 Salesian schools from Bacolor, Canlubang, Cebu, Dumaguete, Dumangas, Liloan, Mabalacat, Mandaluyong, Makati, Mati, Tarlac, and Victorias came together for a borderless education preparation.

The highlight of the launching is the topic “What makes Salesian Education Relevant in distance learning” conducted by Fr. Fidel Maria Orendain, SDB, Ph. D., the Provincial Superior of the FIS. Also, Fr. Rooney John G. Undar, SDB, DBTI-Victorias Principal and FIS Commission on Youth Ministry, presented the mechanics of the common formation. Moreover, Fr. Jobeth Vivo, SDB, FIN-CYM Delegate, and Fr. Gerry Martin, SDB, FIN Provincial graced the event with their messages for the opening and closing remarks respectively.

Furthermore, the two-hour conference opens opportunity for Salesian educators of different settings to convene, and to meet and greet. The event marks not only the first but the start of many more collaborations for Salesian schools and their educators to stay relevant and timely in the years to come.
