Kool Adventure Camp – KAC 2019
13-15 February 2019, Cansamoroy, Balamban, Cebu.
The Salesian Youth Movement – FIS organized the annual Kool Adventure Camp (KAC) in partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), who also facilitated the camp. There were 43 young Salesian youth leaders who participated coming from the different Don Bosco settings in the Visayas and Mindanao areas.
KAC is a youth leadership formation program that adopts experiential adventure-based education. Participants are taught how to apply the skills, concepts, and attitudes they have learned from the camp to their present and future life situations as well as to individual and team challenges. It was established to impart to the youth, the values of communication, teamwork, support, and trust in a medium of adventure and fun.
Mr. J Emmanuel Anthony P. Jaen also known as “Husky”, one of the participants of the said camp and a student from Don Bosco Technical Institute of Victorias, Negros Occidental shared his personal reflection on his experiences of the camp,
“Initially, I have doubts attending the KAC because I thought it was just a usual leadership camp, but it turned out to be different. I feel blessed to have participated in a camp like this because it is the only fully dedicated adventure education center in the Philippines. The nerve-racking obstacles also known as the “DRAGONS” helped me know myself even more and how I should relate with others. And having the opportunity to know and meet other young people from different DB settings motivated me to be in this camp. We were assisted to develop TRUST to one another and it became a means and inspiration in reaching the expected goals. The “dragons” were there in order to draw out from us our leadership qualities and that to be a true leader is first and foremost to be a leader to your own self in order to motivate and inspire others, with courage and great determination to reach every goal we set. The KAC was truly an experience of a lifetime…”
