Talisay City, Cebu, 15 August 2018 –The community of Don Bosco Formation Center together with some other religious congregations and young people celebrated the Solemnity of Mary’s Assumption through a simple Academia. It was a night of prayer and music offered to God through Mary’s intercession for peace of our country, for our government officials especially the president, for all the ministers of the church for victims of extra judicial killings, and for their family. The Academia was entitled “ASSUNTA – lifting up to God our prayers through her intercession.” It was based on the recently released CBCP pastoral exhortation: Rejoice and Be Glad!
“In these times of darkness, when there’s so much hatred and violence, when murder has become an almost daily occurrence, when people have gotten so used to exchanging insults and hurting words in social media,” DBFC challenged its viewers to remain steadfast in facing the ‘church’s modern persecution’ and to become aware of our common vocation and mission to actively work for peace. The night was concluded with a traditional good night talk of Fr. Mel, the rector of the community, who challenged everyone to imitate Mary’s example of humility and constant connection with God.
