Don Bosco Sacred Heart Novitiate – Lawaan – The nine novices from the different provinces in the EAO region underwent their two-day seminar and workshop on Social Communications. Facilitated by Fr. Keith Amodia, SDB, the FIS Province Delegate for SocCom, the seminar focused on the basics of the Social Communications Ministry in the Congregation, Theology of Communication made simple, effective communication, organizational communication, and personal communication.
It was also a chance for the novices to get to know the Code of Personal and Professional Conduct, the Social Media guidelines, and other documents that define what ideal Salesian communication should be. They also studied Church organization and hierarchy and the Salesian planning process.
The last part of the workshop was for the novices to help craft guidelines on their online presence, bringing to the virtual world their Salesian identity.
In this intensive year of studies of the Salesian religious life, novices are given opportunities to deepen their understanding of the Salesian charism and way of life. The SocCom seminar is but a part of a series of seminars in the formation plan that ensures our candidates are guided towards their identity in St. John Bosco and in Jesus Christ.
