Davao City – Perpetually professed Salesian priests and brothers in their first five years gathered together in this city to hold their annual quinquennium seminar from March 20 to 24, 2023. Organized by the Commission on Formation as part of the ongoing formation for these young Salesians to be enriched, revitalized and reconnect, it ran with the theme “Stewardship and Synodality: Pathways for Creative Fidelity as young Salesians of the Philippines South Province.”
Seven priests and two Salesian brothers attended the event. It was also an opportunity for the group to listen to the sharing of the Salesian brothers regarding the canonization of St. Artimede Zatti. The group stayed at the Rivier Retreat House where they had conferences with Fr. Kim Lachica, SJ and Fr. Junar dela Victoria, JCD, PhD on the topics of Synodality and Stewardship. They also had a courtesy audience with Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, DD, who warmly welcomed them and synthesized for them the two topics.
The quinquennium is not limited to formative conferences but also includes unstructured moments where young Salesians can unwind and share experiences with one another. Experiences like this empower Salesians in their life-long formation, deepening their charismatic identity and zeal for the mission for poor youth.
