July 13, 2024, Don Bosco Retreat House – Lawaan – The Salesian priests and brothers completed their annual spiritual retreat in this retreat house. For the past two weeks, the Salesians have stayed for a week, in two batches, in silence and prayer using the Ignatian Retreat method facilitated by Fr. Silvino “Junjun” L. Borres, Jr., SJ.
Each day allots two conferences, in the morning and afternoon, followed by personal prayer and complete silence. Salesians celebrate in common the Holy Mass before lunch and proceed to their meals also in silence. At night, there was a common praying of the rosary followed by the traditional Good Night Talk given by one of them. They also availed of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and offered prayers for all deceased Salesians who worked in the Philippines.
The Provincial, Fr. Fidel Ma. Orendain, SDB, was also present for the confreres throughout the retreat for the Salesian rendiconto. He presided over mass of the final day and received the renewal of vows of the confreres, the summit of the retreat. That mass also saw the installation of new rectors of communities. The annual spiritual retreat is done by Salesians to refresh their consecration to the Lord, to reap the richness of the past, and to chart fresh dreams for the future.
