SALVO Awareness in Negros and Borongan
Sept. 28, 2018, Cebu City. The Commission on Missions of the Salesians of Don Bosco Philippine South Province has been holding a series of SALVO awareness campaign to various Don Bosco houses in Visayas and Mindanao. This started in September and will go on until December 2018.
The encounters aim to encourage missionary volunteers among the Filipinos especially the youth and young professionals. This is also in line with the preparation for the 5th centenary of the Church in the Philippines that will occur in March 16, 2021 with “missio ad gentes” as the focused theme. It will also anticipate the 150th anniversary of the first Salesian missionary expedition.
The series of activities began in Negros last September 14, 2018, in Don Bosco Technical Institute-Victorias, moving to St. John Bosco Parish and Shrine-Murcia on September 16, in St. Louis School-Don Bosco-Dumaguete City on September 18-19 and in Don Bosco-Borongan last September 22 & 24.
The SALVO team has introduced different programs and activities so that young people will realize early on that when they reach the age of 21-29 they can consider the volunteer programs offered by the Salesians. Some of the volunteers who went to Cambodia also came to share their personal experiences, thus encouraging curious participants, most especially among the Bosconians, to consider the Salesian missions.
