SALVO Formations Relaunch
September 10, 2017/ Don Bosco Formation Center.
Guided by Pope Francis call to reach out especially to all the existential peripheries, the FIS Commission on Missions continues to animate and form its lay partners and volunteers into this direction. Hence, the Salesian Lay Volunteers Organization (SALVO) group commenced its first regular formation and enhancement program for its members dubbed as “SEEtheWORLD Expeditions” held in Don Bosco Formation Center, Lawaan, Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines last September 10, 2017.
“SEEtheWORLD Expeditions” aims to provide a series of activities which will bring lay volunteers, partners and as well as the Salesian family to a communal and creative exploration towards an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the missionary dimension of the Salesian charism; to see the challenging realities in the era of globalization and to ignite the missionary spirit in every volunteer to enable them to respond with wider perspective and correct mindset.
Thriteen (13) enthusiastic individuals and young professionals listened to the inputs of the resource speaker, Fr. Alipio Antonio Añano, SDB. They were enriched with the foundations of missionary work from Biblical references, Church documents and the missionary identity of the Salesian Congregation.
In order to fully appreciate Don Bosco’s mission work for the young, videos on the Salesian Mission Day 2017, Cagliero Project of Don Bosco-Australia, the missionary life of Blessed Alberto Marvelli and some inspiring testimonies by the Salesian lay volunteers across the world were shown to the group.
The next “SEEtheWORLD Expeditions” is set to happen in Don Bosco-Balamban on November 30, 2017.
