The grueling four-day musical surprisingly did not leave the cast exhausted but rather made them more spiritually uplifted as they spread around the miracles of Our Lady of Lourdes in a repertoire of symphony.
The musical was a restage of the previous play held early last year in response to an insistent clamor for a repeat performance.
The “Song of Bernadette” is an inspirational story of a frail little girl named Bernadette Soubirous who was blessed to have been chosen by Our Lady to appear to. Bernadette became a visionary and endured the ridicule and derision from people who did not believe her, who doubted her sanity, made worse by the physical pain she was suffering.
But her suffering did not cower her… it only emblazoned her faith and love for God and the Immaculate Conception, whose name she could not even understand.
The Song of Bernadette 2018, the musical, ended the 61st year celebration of the Feast of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, briefly known as Lourdes Shrine in barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City this year.
Proceeds of the musical went to the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), a. organization under the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.
