SYM-FIS partners with Don Bosco Green Alliance
The SYM-FIS Coordinating Council had their formation-meeting last September 1, 2020. The virtual gathering started with a talk by Ms. Zenaida “Taichi” Miranda, EAO Don Bosco Green Alliance (DBGA) Representative.
Ms. Miranda introduced the DBGA, an alliance of people around the world whose advocacy is to protect and cultivate the environment. Ms. Taichi emphasized the invitation for the young to participate in bringing change.
After the formation, Mr. Eduardo Empelis Jr. announced that the SYM-FIS will be officially joining the DBGA through the leadership of Fr. Vince Michael Sabal, SDB, the SYM-FIS delegate. This is SYM-FIS’ response to the challenge of Laudato Si’. The council then proceeded to discuss and strategize the movement’s New Normal Activities for School Year 2020-2021.
Our Salesian youth are conscious of their place and role in the environment and wish to live the teaching of Pope Francis’ apostolic teaching in Laudato Si’. With more green initiatives like these, young people rise up to the challenge of being St. John Bosco’s youth for the environment today.
