February 5, 2020, Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes – “Working together” is the more oft-repeated phrase to describe synergy, but as Salesians whose primary mission is communion of life with their brothers, the stress is the communion of being together, be it prayer or action.
The FIS Provincial, Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB together with the heads of the different provincial commissions, offices and services gathered for the second time here in Lourdes Parish for a synergy meeting. Salesians can be creative in their ministry, but they are more effective when working together. It is for this purpose that arms working for the same mission work together, depend on one another, and tap into each other’s gifts.
Present in the meeting were Fr. Adriano Satura, SDB, FIS Provincial Economer and head of the Commission of Finance; Fr. Orlando Borres, SDB, FIS Provincial Secretary and provincial delegate to the Salesian Family; Fr. Joriz Calsa, SDB, Commission on Youth Ministry; Fr. Arvin Abatayo, SDB, Commission on Missions, Fr. Amelito Racelis, SDB, Commission on Formation, and Fr. Keith Amodia, SDB, Commission on Social Communications.
To help in the coordination of activities and initiatives, also present were Fr. Adrian Mendoza and Ms. Carol Gatchalian of the Center for Lay Adult and Youth; Fr. Vince Michael Sabal, SDB, provincial delegate to the Salesian Youth Movement and Province Vocation Promoter.
Through meetings like this, the Salesians of the Philippine South Province bear witness to the core of their consecration: Salesians consecrated for the young!
