VBP Outreach Program at Don Bosco Pasil
by SocCom Correspondence
Christmas came early this year for the children of Sto. Niño Parish in barangay Suba-Pasil as a group of generous benefactors shared their time and treasures to honor the spirit of the Yuletide season.
Virtual Business Partners(VBP), a Cebu-based company specializing in finance, through their volunteer group, the Caring Kangaroos, made their outreach program in Don Bosco Pasil last December 3. 300 children from the Parish, accompanied by their catechists, made their way to the gymnasium to wait for the arrival of their hosts. Fr. Jerome Dublois, SDB, the Rector, together with other Salesians in the community, welcomed the kids as they assembled.
The team of Caring Kangaroos arrived bearing gifts, triggering an exciting buzz among the kids which changed the atmosphere in Don Bosco gym from anticipation to pure joy. The program opened with a prayer, followed by a caroling from the boys of Don Bosco Dumangas, showcasing their talents on musical instruments, coupled with magic tricks and acrobatic exhibitions.
A variety of games brought the kids to their feet as they played Trip to Jerusalem, Newspaper Dance and Bring Me. It was a deafening experience for the Caring Kangaroos since the kids participated in full force.
The most awaited part, the gift giving, was surprisingly the most tamed event. The kids lined up patiently to get their bundles of joy, exchanging it with their beautiful smiles and sweet “thank yous” to their generous “ates” and “kuyas”. After everyone got their early Christmas gifts, they all sat down and chowed down their burgers and juices. The kids then simultaneously yelled “thank you ang babait ninyo”, to the delight of the volunteers.
The whole event closed with a group photo of all the kids, with the Caring Kangaroos team in their midst.
