23-24 February 2019. San Carlos Seminary College, Mabolo, Cebu City. JOURNEYING WITH THE YOUNG IN MISSION: BELOVED. GIFTED. EMPOWERED was the theme of the Vocation Jamboree in preparation for the upcoming National Youth Day (NYD) 2019 on April 22-28 here in Cebu. The Vocation Jamboree was organized by the Directors of Vocation in the Philippines(DVP) – Cebu Chapter and is an annual religious event wherein young people are gathered from different organizations, schools, parishes, and youth centers.
The Salesian Youth Movement – South Province (SYM-FIS) participated in the event. Vocation Jamboree was an overnight of worship, new discovery, promote vocation, and filled with the different booths from the different congregations displayed in the venue. Every booth has its own attractions aka “gimik” that made it fun and enjoyable for the participants to visit. But of course, its main purpose still stands and that is to inspire young people to become one of them.
They had a carousel type of activity during the night where the participants were given a specific time to go and participate in the three different activities; Two Inputs on the vocation discernment and booth hopping. The activities would be very helpful for the participants to discover what vocation that God has prepared for them. It was also a night in which the young people and some of the religious people showcased their talents. And lastly, the event ended in the Sunday morning with a Holy Mass presided by Archbishop Jose S. Palma, DD.
