Black Sheep in Jesus’ Family
2nd Misa de Gallo
From the genealogy of Jesus from Abraham onwards we see many people faithful to God. However, we also hear of scandals in the savior’s lineage. David murdered the armor bearer Uriah so he could cover his adultery with the latter’s wife Bathsheba. Tamar who duped his father-in-law to commit incest with her. Ruth a good woman albeit an alien like Rahab became the great grandmother of king David. Solomon the son of king David built temples to pagan gods.
Yet despite of these bad and sinful relatives, Jesus all the same came on time born on Christmas day in order save everyone in and as well as out of his lineage. In fact His mission as Messiah was a huge success.
As they say God can still write straight on crooked lines. Nothing can alter the good plans of God not even the sins of men. After all God’s plan is focused precisely to eradicate these sins.
Like Jesus’ family also in our own families black sheep exist. They damage our good name in front of the people because of illicit relations, substance abuse, unplanned pregnancy and the like.
What to do then? Remember that inspite of them or precisely because of them, God continues to bless your family. In His time God will convert these bad people in His usual patient manner of the Good Shepherd. In the meantime, be like God in His manner of dealing with bad people.
